Finally I have answers! I should probably apologise first to Dong Ho for doubting his motives. Well, by the end of this episode he does end up where I thought he would, but not on his how own accord. I can’t believe I thought he was meeting with Gyu Man’s father to just get some money and drop the case. I was actually proud of him, because despite his low values he drew a line for this case. Basically he told the old man to get lost with his money.
It turned out to be that Gyu Man’s secretary friend dropped the bomb on his father about Jung Ah. Dudeeeeee, the way Gyu Man’s face changed. I’m surprised no one tried stopping him from choking his secretary given that they were on a main road lol. I know I shouldn’t have laughed but when he got banged up by his dad after confessing what actually happened. Legit felt sorry for like 2 seconds when he was on his knees and then just cracked up on my bed. So his father is the ultimate power holder here, and you can clearly see where he gets his disrespectful merciless side from. Least from Gyu Man’s confession we see that his secretary has a little shred of common sense when he tries to dial the police after seeing Jung Ah. Probably also was a good idea to tell his father otherwise this guy would have been SO f*cked.
Boy did his father show he truly was the one in power. He turned that trial upside down. I guess I should have seen it coming since we were only still into the beginnings of the episode. He aimed for Dong Ho’s weakness- Joo Il, his second father. He offered him sponsorship for his gang to expand their breadth into Seoul. I was surprised when Dong Ho didn’t accept his push to fail the trial. To be honest, from what he told Jin Woo, I think he went through a similar situation with his father. Maybe?
However he does give in to Gyu Man’s influence when Jin Woo’s doctor lies about Alzhemiers and Jae Hyuk’s colleague lies about him as well. He has a flashback to when his father’s accident when he purposely killed himself. God knows why but he tells him that Joo Il is his father now and surprise surprise, turns out he hit Jin Woo’s car. What a coincidence. Nevertheless it is revealed later that Joo Il’s motive wasn’t really money. Gyu Man’s father hinted at killing Dong Ho if he failed to lose.
This is all not helped at all by the fact that Jung Ah’s father dies. It definitely wasn’t a suicide and I bet they also forced him to write that suicide note like they did to Jae Hyuk. I was slyly hoping when he found his daughter’s journal, something would turn for the better since he connects it to Gyu Man and not Jae Hyuk. Of course him telling a prosecutor whom is a marionette of the powerful does not help. Damnnn… But I have a weird feeling that the journal will prop up soon, unless they had destroyed it.
You bet Jin Woo screamed the truth in the middle of court. Dropping Gyu Man’s name and about the video. Sadly Dong Ho denies it all. I swear I wanted to punch Gyu Man’s smug face. 😑 Why do I feel like even though Dong Ho gave him the evidence, he must have a copy hidden somewhere? I mean it was like taking it for granted that he didn’t have a copy which just sounds stupid. Dong Ho looked so deflated and defeated. As if he was disappointed in himself, and for the first time he looked as if he had zero confidence in himself. Especially when Jin Woo slates him but I swear it feels like destiny. The way he shouts at him for being worse than Gyu Man and he will become a lawyer in order to finish what he started.
This is probably the only point Dong Ho actually looks like a little confidence was restored in him. He tells Jin Woo the trial isn’t finished till his dad actually dies. Especially the moment where he points out to his dad that he still has a contract with Jin Woo and will not give up on him.
Not sure if that moment was to indicate that in the 4 years he trained Jin Woo. Maybe they made up? We don’t know for sure but all we know is we are finally in the present. Both In Ah and Jin Woo are lawyers. God damn they look so mature now. It seemed as if In Ah hadn’t seen Jin Woo since because she looked genuinely surprised when he came into court. Was I the only one thinking that judge was way too young. Oooo I can’t wait for moreeeee 😄
