This drama just keeps getting better. No joke… but I’m still waiting for the episodes to come since I don’t want to make any quick judgements. Whoosh this episode was a roller coaster and a half. Following from the end of last week we get to see the god awful trial for Jin Woo’s father. You know I only just realised he played Seo In Guk’s father in ‘I Remember You’ as well! Very different characters but his acting is on point for both. I loved the way he managed to pull off the vulnerable, innocent father figure here. Made you sympathise with him more and want to protect him too. Unluckily for Jin Woo an inexperienced public prosecutor with court trauma defends his father. Yeah that stuttering and spluttering of spit really made the case even worse. Not to mention a massive loss.
It was interesting to see how they placed the majority of the main characters in this scene. You had Dong Ho in the back commenting how shit the newbie was acting and In Ah listening intently, as well as shooting evils at her stuck up friend. (Yeo Gyung played by Jung Hye Seong). The way her friend said let’s make a bet on Jae Hyuk. I was like you wanna slap? From her attire you can tell this girl is much more well off and straight facts based. I wouldn’t really call her stuck up because she hasn’t given me a reason to think that. But she seems more of a structured and inflexible individual. On another note can you imagine how much more interesting this would become if her friend was Gyu Man’s little sister? I know just cause her surname is also ‘Nam’ doesn’t exactly mean that, but why do I have a sly feeling they may be?
I knew that ring necklace was gonna make a reappearance! It brought the two leads a little closer as she offers comfort. I’ve never actually watched a drama featuring Park Min Young but the girl is pretty good. Not sure if that’s her character or her actual acting but we will see. Their chemistry throughout this episode was alright. Not romantic or anything, more like a homie. Although on In Ah’s part, it looked as if she’s caring for a younger brother. That scene where in worry she checks to see where Jin Woo went and they both attack the casino gangsters. Brilliant! Jumping rooftops, using coke and casino tiles to attack. Now that is what I call a tag effin team. Maybe I should make a ship name… Jinah? WooIn? Epic!
Ooo so we finally make a connection with Jin Woo and Dong Ho after he saves his father from Jung Ah’s father’s crazy attack. Their link comes from the fact that they both lost loved ones and him remembering Dong Ho from the funeral home. Jin Woo losing his mum and younger brother, and Dong Ho losing his father. You can see he is slightly interested in Jin Woo but I don’t know if it’s because of their common resilience or the fact that they coincidentally are up against the same guy. Either way Dong Ho point blank refuses to take Jin Woo on, probably due to the lack of success in his case. Even after he brought 100mill from the casino, which by the way he made in half day. Lucky for some init!
Dong Ho’s character seems unprincipled as well as realistic. His father was a gangster and so he was raised by his gangster friend. The friend tells him to not fight those who step on him with fists but with the law since that’s the only position which is able to defeat the rich. Interesting metaphor. But he in this younger flashback he also seems quite fast and loose in trying to achieve his own justice, just like Jin Woo. You can see the major difference from that to now where he is just collected and quick-witted.
So that’s why he allowed the weirdo that is Gyu Man to bang him up. Nah, seriously that guy has ISSUES. I don’t even want to know what’s going through his psycho brain. I’m just glad he outsmarted the bitch.
I was genuinely surprised though when he came in to defend Jin Woo’s father in the end. Legit was thinking what changed his mind? I think the slight increase of success is what did it. Earlier on he mentions to Gyu Man how he knew about his little drug party. So I think he made the connection to the girl being at the party and Jin Woo’s fathers current case. THANK FUCK! BUT why do I have a sly feeling that this is not gonna turn out well? Given that we are watching a flashback from 4 years ago.
