Before I even begin I have to point out K.Will’s stunt. They all went to watch his concert right before the new year and the way he shut their hopes down right before the countdown. Ahh man that was hilarious.
[ MISSION SUMUP ] All contestants got split into two teams where they had to provide a singing and dancing performance. So that means two different performances focused on different skills. The losing team has one contestant eliminated from that team. Tough huh?
Yeah they came up with that name because all of them are the eldest sons’ in their families. Anyway this team could be put forward as stronger, depending on which way you viewed it. They had the best dancer, Shownu, and ‘current’ best rapper, Jooheon. So they were all pretty confident about winning.
It seems during practice as well they had no issues since the team cooperation was smooth. Everyone pretty much supported each other and was in sync. Minkyun was pretty confident about winning although personally, dude needs a reality check with his voice. But during the rehersals though I could see an improvement in his voice. I also liked how their vocal instructor created a punishment of forehead flicking if they sang wrong. But Hyungwon was on some next level.
The dissing by their team though… is that you yeah Minkyun?
I didn’t think Ga In would come as a judge but let me tell you, she was the quickest fangirl to date. She picked the Ohjangnam team as her bias group ASAP. Bitch was on it from the beginning and it showed in her final comments too when she was slyly hitting on Jooheon. Not my type personally but I see Shownu wouldn’t dipping his massive forehead in that. (I’m sorry, love him really) No but seriously though, this woman picked a bias faster than I ever could.
Onto their actual performance, I actually enjoyed it. Although Jooheon did stand out to me MUCH more. I think Jooheon just has that effect where he’s someone you are easily drawn to. Plus his rapping is pretty good. I was even more focused on him that Shownu or the others. To be honest I think they started off well because I could hear them individually and they sounded really good. After that it just felt like they became back up vocals for Jooheon. The performance was fun but at the same time I wished the vocals had a bigger role in it.
I blame Ga In for being biased but I was slyly biased myself towards the Segyero team. I think it’s because, apart from Kihyun, the rest are sort of like the cast asides. But each of them has a lot of potential so I wanted them to just wow the judges with Kihyun’s backup. It seems they all had the similar thought when they actually got put into teams. They had all accepted they weren’t going to win. I think that’s also why their teamwork at the beginning was a little over the place.
Especially that moment between Wonho and #GUN. Like I said, I think it’s mainly because they were all just that extra bit desperate to prove themselves worthy.
Their beginning introduction though… not sure if the nerves got to Wonho but he was just confused af. It was hilarious that they were all over the place. I could tell the pressure was on Wonho just from the beginning as he stayed up late to rearrange the melodies. He even nodded off in the middle of a warmup and had to take a trip to the doctors. Therefore it wasn’t surprising that he put himself forward as the one to be eliminated if they lose. What kind of question is that anyway? And did anyone catch #GUN’s infamous shotgun? The way he bare walked out like that too jokes.
HOWEVER they managed to pull themselves together eventually. I was slightly worried about Wonho since he seemed to be overworking himself. It’s sad to say this but I felt like its cause he knew he was the weakest link of them all. Nevertheless, like Kihyun said, the more they went through trial and error the better their cooperation became. Mainly because they began to realise how cooperation was the key to them doing well. I saw that subtle promotion #GUN, although I would of probably been Kihyun rolling on the floor.
Their performance was just… AMAZING! I liked the concept they went with, it was more toned down and slow jam like. Finally Wonho! I feel like I can say he has a worthy voice to be in the show. I wished he had show this from the beginning because he was awesome. His backup to the main vocals was on point. I also liked how #GUN’s rap felt much more smoother and less aggressive. I’m glad he did it that way because it clicked well with the particular performance.
I disagree with the judges on Seokwon’s part however. I thought he did pretty well actually. Nevertheless I agreed when they mentioned that Yoonho seemed like a shadow. Thinkng back I don’t even remember him in the performance. That was upsetting because he was improving quite well! However they were the ones to win the singing performance and I felt like they did deserve (not biased at all, ok maybe slightly) to since the arrangement of the whole thing worked well in comparison to Ohjangnam’s team. Furthermore the lyrics of their song hit home hard for me; in the position I’m in I can relate well to them.
On a side note though that happy face when Vasco said #GUN had better potential to be a better rapper than Jooheon. Erm Mad Clown?
Seokwon’s freestyle though! Bruh… maybe he should alternate his route? Yeah they definitely won this dissing battle as well.
