Ok I know I’ve been slacking a lot, truthfully life just keeps getting in the way. I’m jobless, broke af and someone who still has no idea where they’re going in life. Anyway all that depressing shizzle aside let’s move onto the actual post. I’ve decided to condense my posts to 2 episodes in one because I’m struggling to stick to every episode. Furthermore I’m not going to recap everything because I intended my posts to originally to be my comments on the episode since there is a wealth of recappers out there who are really good. That and I have the IQ of a carrot so I’m pretty slow. So I do the minimum unless something in particular interests me. Leggo!
What I noticed at first when I watched Ep 3 & 4 was how Hye Jin and Ha Ri’s relationship could soon be jeopardised. In Ep 3 of course Seong Joon catches Ha Ri so she flings her name tag and bullshits her way past him. Although it was blatant that he was overjoyed like a sasaeng fan who had seen their oppa. Ha Ri on the other hand looked like the oppa.
I know Ha Ri’s intentions were good when she decided to not tell Hye Jin about the hotel incident. But it was a MASSIVE mistake. Despite the fact that your mate is running round like a headless chicken about a boy, you as the sane one bring her back to life by knocking her round the head. I wonder how long it will take Hye Jin to find out about it all.
The mistake becomes more and more evident when Seong Joon and her keep meeting throughout the episodes. In Ep 3 we see him come save her at a nightclub after a fight with her family. It was evident from Ep 2 that she has family issues and I think she must have lost her mother as the lady whom we saw last time implies that Ha Ri is a slut like her mother. Bi*** what? I would have reacted the same as Ha Ri but instead her dad backhands her. If it was me you would have seen cutlery flying- I ain’t got the heart to be wasting food.
So it was clear from that point onwards that the struggle we’re gonna see Ha Ri go through is related to family and reputation. I can relate a lot to Ha Ri’s position to be honest- when family are so focused on reputation, relationships get dangerous. Moving on Seong Joon ends up finding that she’s drinking so comes to help her out as well as boxing that cheesy, looking-like-the-inbetweens-of-my-toes guy. Not like Ha Ri did her own damage by attacking him with a pineapple. Pineapples look like they hurt.
Like I said, her not telling Hye Jin initially was a big mistake. One, because she keeps telling herself she will get rid of him later but doesn’t. Why? Personally I feel like she’s beginning to get the feels for him a little as he’s surprisingly always there to cheer her up after her family exhausts her. Also she feels a connection with him given the fact that they both don’t have a maternal figure. The part that highlighted the most that Ha Ri possibly has feelings for Seong Joon was when he tells her that she should cover up more in case she gets a cold. So the next day she turns up in jeans despite mini skirts being her holy grail.
She almost cuts him off… almost. I was fooled by one of those stupid dream moments. After confiding in him with how he coped with not having a mother around (see their common ground?) she tries to tell him that they can’t meet anymore. But of course she flops it… and things just keep getting extended.
Our other female protagonist is at the opposite end of the spectrum with regards to Seong Joon. She was such a pu**y despite claiming she was going to show him that she can work her socks off. Even Shin Hyuk asks her if she has a phobia of him. He warns her about firing her again when she doesn’t understand the language they were all using in their meeting so her report turns up with blanks. Hye Jin, after failing countless times in front of him rants to Ha Ri about how they’re using fancy language just to show off. This scene is exactly why at the moment I have a preference towards Ha Ri. The woman sees things the way I do and tells Hye Jin that she’s being ignorant. Thank Buddha because it was starting to get a little annoying how she just kept moaning about failing in front of him. Being the besties they are it was awesome to see Ha Ri help her understand the different trends etc. Hye Jin got a little too happy too quick when she wrote her report perfectly because the next minute she ends up knocking his books down. Well done *claps sarcastically*.
Seong Joon pissed me off quite a bit in the two episodes. Well mainly at the part where he barks at Hye Jin for taking him to the wrong airport for an important meeting. Hye Jin gets tricked into it obviously by Shin Hyuk and literally their car journey was just an awkward ride. She asked you twice bi*** not her fault you were deaf! Hye Jin even managed to get him another ride to make the meeting on time. Ungrateful prick. I was feeling that anger Hye Jin was feeling too and I’m glad she ended up saying something back. I would of messed up his perfect slick hair with a pair of Timbs.
If only he knew who she was. Well he would have if he actually connected the dots. Twice in the two episodes you have another moment where he gets reminded of Hye Jin because of her behaviour. In episode 3 it was when she shouts “let’s go” in a particular way but he fails to see her. Second when after the horrid airport incident she opens up the umbrella he actually gave Ha Ri in the rain. I almost though he would have clocked but he doesn’t. Probably can’t contemplate the fact that someone like her is in any way related.
What was probably the most apparent in the two episodes was the distinction between the couplings. Whenever Ha Ri and Seong Joon were together, Hye Jin and Shin Hyuk were also together. Remember that club scene? Yeah Hye Jin didn’t get Ha Ri’s message till late because she was looking after a very hungry Shin Hyuk.
I was glad to see a different, toned down side of Shin Hyuk though. I do like his OTT, a bubble of positive vibes character but sometimes it gets a little too exaggerated. Like dude come down from whatever you’re on. I can do positivity but too much is suffocating. He also is much more likeable when he notches it down. It first came out at the point where Seong Joon takes a picture of the sky and sends it to Ha Ri. To be honest this part was also the part that emphasised the split. Hye Jin also noticing the sky ends up taking a photo whilst Shin Hyuk admires her… do I sense a different sort of interest here?
He’s constantly teasing her like the flipping “is it heads or is it tails” conversation between the two even got me confused and wondering. All that for a meal with her… you see what I’m trying to say? But we do eventually in Ep 4 gain insight as to why he’s always teasing her. Apparently she reminds him of his dead sister. Yup. He hit me right in the feels with that rejected face.
Whilst Ha Ri is playing speedminton with Seong Joon, Hye Jin is actually getting drunk and Shin Hyuk happens to come across her. The difference in the scenes really exaggerated the two sets a lot, although the ‘HyeShin’ (yes that is what I’m going to name them) couple are probably more a hot mess. But Hye Jin you go girl when you call Seong Joon a bas****!
Yet they planned these episodes perfectly. Because the couples end up doing a 180 right at the end. First we see Seong Joon for once take a peek at Hye Jin. I know right I was shocked too, especially when he says to forget about both the airport and the phone call incident. All love stories begin with harmless peeking- wait that sounded a little wrong. Yes finally this bish knows it was his fault. This is because throughout the episode his morning routine in the coffee shop shows us that he’s always engrossed in his tablet. God knows what’s on there but because of that he’s never aware of his surroundings as pointed out kindly by the cafe waitress.
Peer pressure drinking = a collapsed Seong Joon. Unfortunately Hye Jin leaves her phone in his place and so dashes back to try and retrieve it quietly. However Hye Jin and quiet are never in the same sentence as she goes to reach for the jigsaw puzzle but ends up knocking it over because Seong Joon wakes up. He pulls her into him when she’s about to step on the broken glass. I bet he’s gonna say something like he pulled her in case she stains his place with blood. Very Seong Joon-like thing to say. Simultaneously Ha Ri delivers a lost MP3 to a particular hotel guest. She happens to stumbles upon Shin Hyuk who she thought was a hobo. Not gonna lie I would of thought the same! Then again his outfit is like my regular outfit. He recognises her voice barely because of when he took the drunken Hye Jin home but doesn’t recognise her. So things end up in pretty much reverse order. Thanks for the mind fu** guys. Lemme say one thing though, I would not want to be looking after Hye Jin after a night out. Oh and Jung Da Bin makes a reappearance as Hye Jin’s little sister. I was shocked when she comes fact to face with Seong Joon. Thankfully she keeps her mouth shut. On the other hand she has no ratings for her sister at all.
