I think the highlight of this episode was probably Officer Choi and Sun Woo’s change in attitude. I personally think it’s because I seem to really despise Bong Sun’s character. She’s just so dormant and I just want to shake her and make her realise she can be awesome.
Immediately we see Bong Sun confused as f***. Noticing the date she calls her grandmother up instantly to figure out what’s going on. She tells her she was possessed, as she already had sensed it from the phone call she previously had with Soon Ae. Here you also notice the transition from Bong Sun to Soon Ae evidently as the former’s hair is always up whilst the latters is down. As she encounters each character she notices the differences in their attitudes towards her. So Sun Woo being more vocal with her, Officer Choi’s worry for her and the employees being more touchy, feely.
Everyone else also notices her change too when she keeps murmuring that really annoying phrase- “I’m sorry”.
Soon Ae on the other hand is desperate get back into Bong Sun. Even once Sun Woo comes from the hospital she starts asking him where she is etc. but of course he can’t hear her. It’s strange because even though he can’t hear, their conversations still sound in sync. Still restless she does aim for So Hyung’s body but unfortunately fails to enter her too. Don’t worry Soon Ae, to physically lye down next to Sun Woo I would be jumping through bodies too.
Soon Ae and Bong Sun finally come face to face so Bong Sun tries to heed her grandmothers words of ignoring the ghost or coming at it head on. Unfortunately for her Soon Ae knows she can see ghosts, and gets her into a lot of trouble. Her weak stuttered words cause no effect so she attempts to threaten her with the cooker gas. However she carelessly ends up lighting ingredients on fire. Sun Woo surprisingly seems calm and asks for an explanation, and like a robot she says, “I’m sorry”. But that death stare she gives to Soon Ae tho…
Sun Woo worried, takes her to a doctor and diagnoses Bong Sun with manic depression. Sun Woo feeling guilty for being oblivious to her health offers her a place to say and even makes the cabbage soup from her blog. I found it really hard to root for these two. It just doesn’t seem to fit in comparison to Soon Ae’s character. I’m hoping her and Soon Ae collaborate to bring out Bong Sun more/ Regrettably the day of filming comes and Bong Sun starts to panic. I’m not sure if she has stage fright but if so, that on top of not knowing what the hell she’s doing equals a ‘bricking’ it face.
You see how much Soon Ae’s father misses his daughter in this episode and honestly I just wanted to pat him on the back. Soon Ae, feeling guilty over Bong Sun goes to visit her dad and reminisces. However he slips back into drinking once he sees a marriage invitation from Soon Ae’s friend. Soon Ae shouts at him from the corner but of course he hears nothing. So instead she hugs him whilst he passes out in her room. You also witness Soon Ae’s deep rooted guilt for her family; after finding out about their lack of money to pay for taxes she constantly tries to open her diary, despite being a ghost.
My Buddha Officer Choi took me by surprise. Here I was thinking he was a sweet, sweet angel but boiii was I wrong! The first scene was when he just bumps an old man’s cardboard collecting cart instead of just asking. I was like “Bish wah?” I mean he did nothing; he was just going about his job! The second moment was when after seeing Soon Ae’s father collapsed (she’s still upstairs by the way), he completely ignores and even redirects his friend to another restaurant.
Not gonna lie, I think Hye Young is obsessed with her new-found friend ahjumma. She even equates that it was a small fire and not a big one because she did the ancestral rites with ahjumma. Little does she know she’s ripping her off. #AhjummaHustle I also now have seemed to connect the dots slightly from the last episode with what she said about Officer Choi. Because as soon as she see’s his photo she says some worrying things.
The ending I was sort of glad to see. Surprisingly Soon Ae manages to open her diary however she discovers her father unconscious on the ground and literally starts running into everyone and anyone in order to call the police. Bong Sun on the other hand has no idea what she’s doing, and since the structure of the show is tag team she’s even more nervous. However Soon Ae realising Bong Sun’s her only hope finds her and calls for her. Bong Sun breaks down, as she can’t seem to take the pressure and legs it. Whilst Soon Ae is asking her to call the police cause of her dad, Bong Sun actually looks like she may give in. But the crew also call for her and as soon as she turns Soon Ae legs it into her. Why was I glad? Because Soon Ae is back motherf*****. Ok I’m only slightly joking; the episode was sort of slow but I guess it was to show the transition to Bong Sun from chaotic Soon Ae. I don’t know why Bong Sun really annoys me but yes I think I prefer Soon Ae but I do feel bad for Bong Sun. But I can’t wait for the next episodes because things looks pretty fun. ^_^
