In the beginning I was thinking, thank god Soon Ae’s past was the reason why she remembered Officer Choi and not seduction. Her memories carry on from last week to the business of the family restaurant, the people she used to see on a daily basis and her crush for Officer Choi. It later switches to the employees checking out the first airing of the episode however Sun Woo is absent. Instead you see him watching it on his own, personally, to probably check himself out.
Anyway Bong Sun begins to ‘borrow’ items from the restaurant for her father and Kyung Mo snaps at Bong Sun for trying to discipline him. He also, out of protectiveness, screws his father for receiving her gifts without thinking about her true intentions. For some reason he believes she is trying to flirt with his father for money… come on Kyung Mo really? Inevitably Sun Woo finds out and he holds a meeting to find the traitor, his method of choice being emotional blackmail.
However as Bong Sun is about to give in Min Soo speaks up with a rather inspirational comment. I mean wow Min Soo, I’m impressed! He suggests that instead of breaking the team’s bond, they should all take responsibility and just work harder to make up for it. Unfortunately for him, Sun Woo takes this as a sign of guiltiness. Min Soo confesses he did borrow some caviar but that was all he took to impress a girl. Of course Sun Woo refuses to believe him after his confession and they blow at each other. Min Soo releases some pent-up frustration at Sun Woo and leaves the team. No Min Soo! Who else am I going to rely on for butt slaps! Bong Sun you idiot why didn’t you just confess.
But she doesn’t keep hidden for long. The kitchen becomes chaos because of Min Soo’s absence and Sun Woo searches for some urgent replacements. However because of Sun Woo’s character, no one actually wants to work with him. Kyung Moo comes along with all the stolen goods and tells him to give it back to Bong Sun and stop her seduction. Bless him he’s just looking after his dad. Sun Woo confronts her but ends up getting confused by Bong Sun’s brave outbursts, since the old Bong Sun would have just apologised and stayed quiet. She attempts to use the sympathy card to explain her actions but he just gives her that ‘really-b****?’ look.
Thankfully my butt slapping friend returns because Sun Woo after Bong Sun’s revelations, decides to bring him back. Min Soo turns out to be working in a family garage, but Sun Woo turns up to save him from his misery, and dignity it seems. I couldn’t help but say “Aw” because they just have a cute, difficult, bromance and I loved it! Especially when Min Soo acts aegyo by hugging his arm.
The team scenes are so heart warming in this episode because they genuinely act like a group of best friends just living life. Soon as Min Soo comes to the restaurant Sun Woo tells them that he’s going to be treating them for not being appreciative. Clearly he was thinking of Min Soo’s outburst from earlier. But Hye Young and ahjumma burst through, drunk, as earlier they met up after catching each other at a fortune tellers place. Ahjumma repeats that Sun Woo’s vitality is pretty intense since she can still sense it despite being tipsy. I swear ahjumma and Hye Young are slowly becoming the best of friends and I’m rooting for it!
Ok Min Soo I’m not sure if you’re being a suck up or just drunk, but he ends up convincing Sun Woo to do a love shot with him.
So Hyeong interrupts celebrations when she calls Sun Woo out after almost running over a cat. It seems Sun Woo has strong feelings for her and not just as a brother. Once he takes her home and refuses her offer for coffee, he pretends to walk back but then actually goes back to check she safely went inside. I seriously love Min Soo and the Bong Sun combo – in a friendship way. Especially when both of them are drunk.
On her way home however she asks her father to have a drink with her but he refuses her as it seems burdensome despite her having good intentions. I also think it’s because her father is cautious of her after hearing Kyung Mo’s warning. Bong Sun seems quite hurt by the comment however, but then again he doesn’t know who she really is, and her loneliness flows back.
Earlier in the episode you see Soon Ae’s feels for Officer Choi as she imagines touching his hands. She goes slightly loopy thinking about him.
However after drinks she catches Eun Hee and Officer Choi together and her face just looked like her heart shattered to pieces. She also reminds herself that she’s nothing but a lonely ghost, who owns no body. She despairs over her many missed connections in life due to her life being so short. Additionally it sort of sucks that straight after this she gets kicked out of her hostel and is left on the streets.
I still don’t know what that massive spear Bong Sun owns is for, but when she tries to sneak into the restaurant for shelter she almost gets caught from its clanking . She checks to see where Sun Woo is but I was too focused on something else. His body tho… However she comes into contact with an evil spirit who comes after, Bong Sun tries to slice it but unfortunately she ends up knocking over dishes. Sun Woo obviously hearing this instantly thinks of what ahujumma tells him about many ghosts surrounding him. I thought you didn’t believe in ghosts Sun Woo?
Ok I have two for this episode, and I was thinking of leaving one out but I thought f*** it because both Sun Woo and Soon Ae go deep.
“That’s when I understood the reason why love is sad is not because two people are amiss, it’s because the timing is amiss, once you miss the timing you can‘t turn things back” – Sun Woo
Sorry for the long ass quote but the meaning behind it is on point. This comes from the flashback as to how Sun Woo and So Hyeong met (finally). He initially see’s her nodding off in the library, finding her funny and cute goes to buy her a drink. But he misses out on timing as she leaves and it turns out she was the girl his friend is proposing to. It’s sort of sad because at this moment Bong Sun and Sun Woo walk past each other in the rain and the quotation sort of resonates their possible relationship in the series. To be honest it’s hard to know who to root for when you have both Soon Ae and Bong Sun, it’s clearly not going to end well for someone.
“She doesn’t need to live this way. You’re born once and die. You should use everything want and do everything you want… If she waits, it will all turn into crap” –Soon Ae
Preach sister! This comes when Soon Ae searches through Bong Sun’s mediocre makeup bag. The reason why I had to put this quote in here was because of how true it speaks to my situation at the moment and probably a lot of others too. Sometimes being cautious and conventional is not the only road and it’s more about the moment than the future.
Sun Woo talking to his new canine friend about his friends and life. I just think it’s really cute how he confides in his dog, probably because he won’t talk back to him. Sun Woo you really need to get some actual friends.
