This episode was just… #NoWords. It was literally b**** slap after b**** slap, I kid you not! One minute I was like Ooo burnnnn, then the next minute I literally was laughing too hard. And to think there was absolutely no comedy in this episode!
Obviously last episode’s end episode I was anticipating what had happened to Tae Hee and whether or not he was in a critical state or if it was not too severe. But it really annoyed me when Chae Yeon begins blaming Sara for being irresponsible when the PD of Birth of a Chef complains. Seriously? Do you not realise that you are in fact the actual irresponsible one! What makes the situation worse is when the grandmother comes to hospital, obviously distressed, and blames Sara for everything. It’s really frustrating when all of them give her disapproving looks; in my head I keep thinking none of you could even bring happiness into his life like she did. Tae Hee’s situation also randomly starts to deteriorate and I have a sly feeling that the butler did some meddling. But thankfully there seems to be some positive moment in this when Ji Hoon opens up his sympathetic side. He allows Sara to see Tae Hee when he notices her fretting, I hope he realises soon that something fishy is going on. Finally he’s being nice again! It was so annoying considering of the majority he’s the only one with no bad intentions or past.
Chae Yeon however, even after being told by Kang Joon still does everything to block Sara. Sad times for her though because the doctor tells both her and the grandmother that it was because Sara stayed with him all night that his psychological mindset has improved greatly. One point to Sara! Because of this the grandmother allows Sara to stay with Tae Hee, but only till he gets discharged. I guess its better than nothing. Tae Hee obviously being oblivious to the outside situation, talks to Sara with light humour, which I thought was a nice touch. He also attempts to get his sly intimacy points as well- #TaeHeeLevel100. Sara also ends up shooting the final episode of Birth of a Chef but you never actually know for sure if she wins the competition.
I see you Min Hyuk and your devious plans. Since the butler did not completely finish the job Min Hyuk decides to take initiative and announce at a conference that he will be looking to discover who placed his brother in the hospital. His plan basically involves him being the concerned older brother in order to win over the public and his grandmother. It is clever considering that the first person the public would suspect would be him considering the flour bomb accident. He also reels Sara in by making the proposition that as the new face of the company she can study abroad and considering that it was because someone used her fake identity as a means of luring Tae Hee. I’m not sure how this plan works in his favour but I guess that’s for the episodes to come.
There is also a cute scene between Sara and Tae Hee where they are cuddling next to each other in the hospital bed. It was cute but also sad considering the contrast of emotions they were both feeling. Especially considering right before this Sara witnesses the man who tried to kill Tae Hee try and get into his room.
So Tae Hee finally gets discharged and of course this is where everything seems to fall apart. Give the grandmother’s ultimatum from before and everyone else’s discouraging comments, Sara states she will move away from Tae Hee. Of course I saw this coming, especially in a Kdrama romcom. Anyway after all of this she accepts Min Hyuk’s offer. She also tells Kang Joon that she will be breaking up with Tae Hee. Oh yes did I mention that Chae Yeon announces her divorce publicly? She even withholds Sara’s name because she wanted to keep that property. B**** it is not your goddamn property! Well that’s Kang Joon ruined; especially that stinging slap his father gives him. Got to admit that is by far the best slap so far in the series.
Surprisingly she tells Tae Hee that they should break up. This clearly catches him off guard but she, falsely, explains that she needs to live her life/dreams and being married to him and their situation would not allow that. He tries to hold her back but fails. Thankfully team leader Choi to the rescue when he manages to find out her departure flight and time. The reason why I was surprised was because in a lot of dramas they usually just leave. I know the whole flight chase scene comes up in Kdramas and it’s such a typical Kdrama mechanism but I still never fail to get on edge about whether or not the male lead will make it or not. This time was no different but unfortunately Sara’s flight seems to have departed by then. Technically he could find out the destination and catch the next flight? I’m sure Team Leader Choi could use his investigatory powers to figure out where she is. I’m also surprised no one though of asking Min Hyuk. Considering it is a Winner Group study abroad trip, you’d think of all people you will try and get out of Min Hyuk, who know’s maybe he does in the next episode.
“You have never genuinely loved a person”- Sara
Although not an obvious quote it was nevertheless an important one. In that I wonder would the situation have been different if Kang Joon acted differently? For example if he after falling for her he just stops being a total jackass and broke it off with Chae Yeon etc. Either way I was also fond of this scene because he had the cheek to suggest that they could still stay together and married. B**** pleaseeee! Nobody got time for you or your psycho issues. Seriously though, at one point he hated for being fat, cheated and stuck with Chae Yeon, met her in her new body fell for her, dashed Chae Yeon… wait you know what its just too complicated for my mind to even comprehend.
Most certainly Kang Joon’s rare bawse moment! I was very satisfied upon seeing Chae Yeon’s hurt face. She screws Kang Joon for going so far as putting Tae Hee in a coma. Although Kang Joon isn’t my favourite character, at this particular moment he is because he sees Chae Yeon’s BS. He mentions that he knew she was just in it to enable Tae Hee to be hers. What he says about Sara obviously I do not agree with but just for him to say it at Chae Yeon was just a Christmas miracle. Her offended face was like I got a Happy Meal from McDs.
I guess she manages to get her comeback in a way when she mentions that to Sara he is nothing anymore. But still, to me at least, it wasn’t as big of a burn as Kang Joon’s.
